Missing in Action

This blog has not seen an update for over a week and even then it was quite light weight in nature. I have been very busy doing 'Other Things' instead. My apology’s for the apparent absence.

What Have I Been Doing?

Between September 9th and 16th I and a good friend of mine embarked on a motorbike tour of the Lake District. During that week we covered over 900 miles, consumed far too many sausages and took about 600 photographs between us.

On our return we wrote a travel blog all about it.

Last weekend (2nd & 3rd October) I finally took the plunge and bought myself a proper Digital SLR camera. I’m currently getting to grips with all its settings and controls. When I’ve got it under my control I’ll give you all a review of my thoughts and some stunning (I hope) photographs.

Regards

  2. Hi Matt,

Great to hear from you again.

I bought a Canon Digital 400D SLR and it's right on the money. Soon I'll put some time aside to write the promised review. Right now however I'm far too busy taking photos 8-)

  3. Good choice. Presumably it was between that and the Nikon D80. The Canon would probably have been my choice (apart from the fact that I;m already a Canon man (I've got a 500N, a 50E and a 350D, as well as a bunch of lenses and an Ikelite housing etc.)) but because of the auto-sensor cleaning dealy. I'll be interested to hear what you think of it - whether it's just a gimmick or actually does work.

  4. Matt,

No, it was an easy choice. I've had a Canon EOS 10 since 1993.Being a fan of the system and having various lens & accessories it seemed the logical way to go. With the exception of my flash gun and an old Sigma lens (with failed AF) all has gone well.

My preivous digital camera was a Fuji FinePix S5000 and I was quite surprised how slow it was after using film for 20 years. At a recent airshow I found it near impossible to get the aircraft where I wanted them in the frame. I ended up setting it to continueous shooting in the hope I would get at least some good shots. It worked, but I took nearly 300 photos!
